Health and Safety

While there are some health and safety risks that are inherent to rowing, Auckland Grammar School Rowing, the AGRC Committee and the Coaching Team work hard to minimize these risks.  The following steps have been taken or will be taken to ensure that we are constantly improving our safety procedures:

Auckland Grammar School collects health and safety information on each rower at the beginning of each season. We rely on parents to ensure that the information provided is accurate and up to date.

Where appropriate, Health Care Plans are also requested for boys with particular allergies or serious conditions.

Auckland Grammar School conducts risk assessment processes prior to all camps and regattas. The Risk Assessment and Management Systems process is monitored by the school, and the RAMS folder will be present whenever and wherever the boys are on the water.

The AGRC undertakes an annual Health and Safety audit through the Auckland Rowing Association (ARA) and in partnership with Maritime NZ.

All AGRC coaches will be Coastguard NZ Club Safety Boat certified.

At least four AGRC coaches are first-aid certified (including CPR and AED) and at least one of those will be at every training.

An Incident Report log is kept, and reviewed at monthly committee meetings to discuss any improvements that could be made to safety procedures.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding health and safety procedures at AGRC, please contact the Health and Safety Officer, Campbell Lowe on 027 692 4269.
